Living Archaeology Weekend Sponsors
Prior to 2006, the U.S. Forest Service funded, organized, and hosted Living Archaeology Weekend with some support from the Kentucky Heritage Council and other organizations. With the loss of direct federal funding, in 2006 the U.S. Forest Service, the Kentucky Organization of Professional Archaeologists (KyOPA), and the Kentucky Archaeological Survey (KAS), which is jointly administered by the Kentucky Heritage Council and the University of Kentucky Department of Anthropology, signed a memorandum of agreement to host and co-organize Living Archaeology Weekend. KyOPA, a not-for-profit professional organization, is responsible for raising funds for Living Archaeology Weekend.
Living Archaeology Weekend receives cash and in-kind contributions from a wide range of sponsors, including archaeology consulting firms, state and federal agencies, federally recognized American Indian tribes, professional and civic organizations, businesses, and individuals. The LAW Steering Committee greatly appreciates the cash and in-kind contributions provided by each and every one of the sponsors.
